Anti-Hate Crime Ambassador Project
The Anti-Hate Crime Ambassador Project developed out of our community development work in South Gloucestershire. Hate Crime, and the effect it has on whole communities, were recognized as a local issue. The communities we work with felt that they wanted to work with children and young people to make sure we have a more inclusive future.
In 2016 we piloted an innovative education programme in one secondary and one primary schools in South Gloucestershire and found that working with young people can have a huge impact. In fact two of our Anti-Hate Crime Ambassadors went on to win the South Gloucestershire Lord Lieutenant's Special Award for volunteering.
Following on from this success in 2017 Southern Brooks was able to secure Home Office Building a Stronger Britain Together funding to roll out the project to 12 schools across South Gloucestershire.
We are hoping to extend the project to more schools in the region.
Our project couldn't be a success without the wonderful support of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering opportunities with this project then contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
