Assistant Youth Worker 2x Roles Available

Working Hours:

1 x Monday Evening 17:30-20:30 Part-time 3 hrs per week.

1 x Thursdays Evening 15:00-18:00 Part-time 3 hrs per week.

Location:
The role will be based from The Patch Youth Centre, covering Patchway and some weekend work will also be required to support Southern Brooks’ events.

The role will include:

  • To deliver youth work with groups of young people in Patchway.
  • To deliver, monitor and evaluate youth work sessions
  • To build appropriate, positive relationships with young people and work in a manner that facilitates inclusion.
  • To facilitate access to information, support and referral to a range of agencies and services.
  • To support the health, safety and wellbeing of young people.
  • To work in partnership with local agencies and the community.

Volunteer Co-ordinator – Yate, Chipping Sodbury and Locality

Salary: £22,282 per annum, pro rata

Working Hours: 10.5 hours per week - Permanent subject to funding

Location:
The role will be based in various locations in Yate and Chipping Sodbury, including Cranleigh Court Community Hub with regular travel to Kingswood and occasional travel to work at Southern Brooks offices in Patchway.

Job Purpose: To develop, promote and co-ordinate the work of the volunteer centre across the areas of Yate, Chipping Sodbury and locality and contribute to the development of Volunteer Centre Partnership South Gloucestershire.

The role will include:

  • Work with local partners to ensure good practice in volunteering and that coordinated services are provided for local residents
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support the Volunteer Centre
  • Maintain a database of volunteers and placements
  • Broker potential volunteers with appropriate local volunteering opportunities
  • Support people with barriers to volunteering to access suitable opportunities
  • Support the running and promotion of volunteer manager forums
  • Manage relevant website pages, and create content for social media and local newsletters.
  • Produce quarterly reports for the volunteer centre
  • Work with the South Gloucestershire Volunteer Centre Partnership to be aware of national and regional strategies about volunteering and to support the development of a sustainable volunteer service
  • To carry out any such duties as may reasonably be required in relation to a post of this nature
  • To actively seek connections and build relationships between people and groups outside of Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and be a persistent and reliable conduit for introductions and linking people with others, groups and activities.
  • To look for opportunities to link individuals to activities in the Southern Brooks hubs so they can develop relationships and build their social networks.

Employment & Skills Development Coach 

Salary: £24,660 per annum pro rata

Contract: Fixed contract until December 2021 

35 hours per week (job share will be considered) 

Closing Date: 31st January 2020

Interview Dates: 6th Feb 2021

The main purpose of this project is to increase readiness, ability and confidence of unemployed or economically inactive people, to seek or enter employment, education or training and improve relationships between employers, training providers, the VCSE sector and statutory agencies, with a better 3-way flow of intelligence, resulting in better prepared people and employers. 

 This project will address the current lack of co-ordinated intensive relationship based work needed for people who are disengaged, socially excluded and furthest from education, training and the job market, by providing a unique model of supporting people on the journey from social exclusion to participation in education, training and employment.  

To be a designated Key Worker from engagement in the programme throughout their journey guiding participants towards a positive progression, achieving the outcomes of moving into active job search, securing employment or accessing training/ apprenticeships.  You will support the participant to co-design their own individual programme to meet their specific circumstances and needs.

To oversee a small team of Employment & skills development coaches and to support the Employment, Skills & Youth Development Manager.

To be a designated Key Worker from engagement in the programme throughout their journey guiding participants towards a positive progression, achieving the outcomes of moving into active job search, securing employment or accessing training/ Apprenticeships. You will support the participant to co-design their own individual programme to meet their specific circumstances and needs. Facilitate a joined up approach which focuses on providing a person-centred personalised programme and brings in specialist providers as required. Each participant's programme will have a focus on progressing towards a positive outcome; employment and/or training. Progress against personalised plans will be reviewed regularly so there is an emphasis on progression. A participant’s journey may not be linear and may be subject to set-backs and challenges, but by listening to people and providing consistent, flexible Key Worker support, each participant will be able to make incremental progress towards their goals.
