Youth Workers

We are looking for an Assistant Youth Worker (3 hours per week) and a Youth Work Leader in Charge (5 hours per week)

  • To work on Thursday or Friday.
  • Salary dependant on experience & qualifications
  • Permanent subject to funding

This is an exciting time to join Southern Brooks with a new youth work strategy and vision that includes the development of international work and community cohesion projects.

The role will include:

  • Ensuring that young people have a voice in the community and can influence programme development.
  • Support the creation, development and delivery of monthly / quarterly programs to enhance young people’s experiences
  • To promote and encourage participation and the empowerment of young people

We welcome applications from people who have first-hand experience of working with young people.  We provide the opportunity to work as part of a multi-skilled team, with training and support. Closing date is 9.00am Tuesday 29th May and interviews will be held on Monday 4th June 2018

Play Worker

Hours of work: 5 hours a day, starting at 10.00am till 12.30pm and 1.30pm till 4pm. Staff are not paid for the hour over lunch. The play scheme begins on the 30th July 2018 and finishes on the 24th August 2018.

Salary: £7.75 per hour dependant on qualifications/experience

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a small team, to participate and supervise in a wide range of creative and enjoyable play activities, catering for the different needs, abilities and backgrounds of the children between the ages of 5-11 years of age.

Tasks will include:

  • Day to day running of the play scheme/play area as directed by the play leader
  • To supervise children in an open access play setting
  • To facilitate, when necessary, varied play opportunities
  • Supervision of children’s entry and exit from the play session premises

We provide the opportunity to work as part of a multi-skilled team, with training and support.

Apprentice Chef  - Patchway

based at Coniston Community Centre for 30 hours per week for 12 months.  Due to funding we can only offer this to Merlin Housing Association residents.

To gain experience and adhere to training from the Cafe Manager and team, working in a professional working kitchen to learn all aspects of catering as desired and instructed.  Full training and support will be given.
