the long road back to southern brooks!

Our new Patchway Community Development Coordinator, Jayne Anstis is doing Action Challenge’s Coast to Coast South West Challenge and walking 100K continuously from Minehead to Dawlish on 25th/26th July 2020, to raise funds for Southern Brooks.

“I want to give something back to Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and raise much needed funding for this charity.”

Jayne originally worked for Southern Brooks (Patchway and Bradley Stoke Community Development Project as it was then) over a decade ago as a Youth Worker. She qualified as a sessional youth worker and then went on to do a BA (Hons) in Youth and Community Work. Since then, she has set up and managed her own youth work project, worked in Neighbourhood Partnerships for Bristol City Council and worked as a Community Development Worker for The ExtraCare Charitable Trust at Stoke Gifford Retirement Village opposite UWE.

“I didn’t have a good relationship with education. Southern Brooks enabled me to have the courage to re-enter education and to see it as a life-long thing; to develop my skills and talents and find out more about myself; to believe in myself again.”

Jayne rejoined the Southern Brooks team in September this year, and has dived straight into her role, getting out and about visiting groups in Patchway. She’s already made a good impression, with feedback including “It was great to meet you – what a lovely shiny person you are!”.

If you want to talk to Jayne about your group or organisation or have an idea for the community you can either talk to her when you see her out and about or contact her on: jayneanstis@southernbrooks.org.uk or call 07800 857093. https://southernbrooks.org.uk/what-we-do/your-community/patchway/
