Caring and Understanding Dementia Course

This free course specifically designed for carers. Caring for a family member or friend with Dementia can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. However, it can also be stressful, tiring and isolating at times. Caring and Understanding Dementia gives carers a safe space to discuss these issues, to share information and knowledge and to learn new skills.

Topics covered include: What is Dementia? Communication & engagement skills, resources for people with Dementia & their carers and coping strategies & stress management.

Thornbury Golf Centre would like to offer carers attending the course a free round of golf after each session should you wish to make use of it.

Caring with Confidence Course

This free 5-week course will help you build a better understanding of what services are out there for you as a carer. It aims to increase your confidence in making decisions, working with professionals and getting the practical support you need. It also teaches techniques to deal with stress and emphasises the importance of looking after yourself.

Topics covered include juggling life and caring, stress management, good health for carers, rights and resources and effective communication.
