The Carers Support Centre offer a free program of training for carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire to support their wellbeing and to provide carers with the skills and knowledge to help them with their caring role. Information about courses are further down this page.

These sessions are run by Carers Support Centre on behalf of Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and South Gloucestershire Council.

You must be a South Gloucestershire resident or be registered with a GP in South Gloucestershire to book on these events.

How to join online sessions

You can join any online workshops advertised below using most devices with a browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. A link and meeting ID to securely access the workshop, and a guide on how to use Zoom will be provided when your booking has been confirmed.

Caring with Confidence (face-to-face course)

This 5-week course will take place in The Vassall Centre in Fishponds on the following dates:

Thursdays 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th June and 7th July, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

This course will help carers to build a better understanding of what services are out there for them during this difficult time. It aims to increase carers' confidence in making decisions, working with professionals and getting the practical support they need. It also teaches techniques to deal with stress and emphasises the importance of looking after themselves. Topics covered include juggling life and caring, stress management, good health for carers, rights and resources and effective communication.

This course is run by Carers Support Centre and funded by Southern Brooks as part of the ‘One You South Gloucestershire’ public health campaign.
