These online sessions are run by Carers Support Centre on behalf of Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and South Gloucestershire Council.

You must be a South Gloucestershire resident or be registered with a GP in South Gloucestershire to book on these events.

How to join

You can join the workshops advertised below using most devices with a browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. A link and meeting ID to securely access the workshop, and a guide on how to use Zoom will be provided when your booking has been confirmed.

Caring with Confidence (face-to-face)

Tuesdays from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm
21st, 28th September, and 5th, 12th and 19th October 2021

This course will help you to build a better understanding of what services are available for carers. It aims to increase your confidence in making decisions, working with professionals and getting the practical support you need. It also teaches techniques to deal with stress and emphasises the importance of looking after yourself. Topics covered include juggling life and caring, stress management, good health for carers, rights and resources and effective communication.

This 5 weeks-course will be delivered face-to-face, over five weeks with one session per week. The next course will take place on Tuesday 21st, 28th September, and 5th, 12th and 19th October from 1.00pm to 3.00pm.

This workshop is run by Carers Support Centre and funded by Southern Brooks as part of the ‘One You South Gloucestershire’ public health campaign.

Caring and Understanding Dementia (online)

Dates: 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and 27th July, and 3rd, 5th, 10th and 12th August
Time:  from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m. 

This 5-week course will be delivered online, via Zoom, over five weeks with two sessions per week.

This course is for carers of people with dementia living in South Glos. As this course takes place during the evenings, via Zoom, it is aimed primarily at working carers who may be unable to access daytime services. However, the course is open to all carers of people with dementia in these areas. The twice weekly, one-hour sessions will be a mix of information, advice and discussion. It will give carers the opportunity to meet other carers to discuss what matters to them and the people they care for.

This course is run by the Carers Support Centre but funded by Southern Brooks as part of the 'One You South Gloucestershire' Public Health Campaign.
