Patchway Youth Centre Supported Merlin Housing Society to Celebrate Bristol Pride

Patchway Youth Centre members recently engaged in some creative social action, in the form of supporting ‘Bristol Pride 2016’. The art project arose from a brainstorm of thoughts between Merlin and partners Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and Tyndale Primary School. Our young people were keen to support the festival and decided to create a selection of fabric banners and posters to express their views and support of LGBTQ equality.

The project was a simple way of encouraging our young people to start talking about LGBTQ issues, including the discrimination these individuals or groups may face. The artwork was displayed on behalf of the young people at the festival, with a special thanks featured in the Merlin Evaluation document.

A great success for our young people in promoting and achieving positive change in local communities through social action.

Check out our artwork which was featured on the day and some feedback from Merlin:
