We've Moved!

We're now nicely settled into our new Kingswood Office! However we're still working on getting the phone lines up and running, so please bear with us if communication is a little difficult.

Tony and Zaya had plenty of fun trying to dismantle one of the desks. Apparently they were far easier to put back together, than they were to dismantle!

Connecting Kingswood

Connecting Kingswood is a group of partners made up of local businesses, councillors, charities and South Gloucestershire Council all working in or on behalf of the Kingswood community to support local residents.

We meet quarterly as a whole group and have sub-group meetings about the following priorities:
  • Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Children and Young People
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Education, Skills and Training

Recent activities include four free workshops for young people in Kings Chase Shopping Centre.  This gave us an opportunity to talk to young people about the activities they do outside school, and the things they'd like to do.

Connecting Kingswood is represented at the Community Engagement Forum three times per year.

Kingswood Community Plan

We are drafting the community plan based on statistics about the area and what local people have said to us.  This includes more activities for children and young people, and a heritage/green spaces trail for Kingswood and in response we are working with Kingsmeadow @ Made for Ever and Creative Youth Network , and are about to commission a Green Spaces map like the one created for Patchway.

Health Champions - Kingswood network

This is a group of volunteers from the Kingswood community that all share a passion for health and wellbeing. We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month from 1 - 3pm @ Kingswood Library and we have a different health related topic each month where we have discussions, listen to speakers, plan events and talk about how we can help and advertise access to free activities for people in the community, relating to the topics in question.

If you would like to get involved please contact me to discuss it further, on:
Zaya Morris-Taylor 07969 189485 or zayamorris-taylor@southernbrooks.org.uk

or book onto one of the monthly sessions here:
