Southern Brooks has over 25 years' experience in Youth Work and offers a range of Youth Work courses accredited by the NOCN awarding body.

We have been recognised as a Centre to deliver NOCN (National Open College Network) Qualifications since October 2008 - NOCN Centre No. 58234.

We currently offer a range of Youth Work courses and qualifications to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to have a career as a youth support worker or a youth and community worker. Our QCF Youth Work qualifications are nationally recognised by employers and educational institutions alike.

QCF Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice

This course will help to develop the practical skills and key principles that you need to be a Youth Worker.

The Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice consists of 4 units and the learner must achieve 11 credits to successfully complete this qualification. You must be over the age of 16 years old to undertake this qualification.

There are approximately 30 guided learning hours (GLH), 20 hours course work / study at home and approximately 25 hours on placement.

The units include:

  • Engaging and Communicating with Young People
  • Safeguarding in a youth work setting
  • Theory of Youth Work
  • Young People's Development

10 sessions plus a one to one session

Price: £540

QCF Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice

The programme is suitable for youth workers interested in taking on Leader in Charge responsibilities.

The Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice consists of 9 units and learner must achieve 27 credits to successfully complete this qualification.

There are approximately 60 guided learning hours (GLH), 50 hours course work / study at home and approximately 50 hours on placement.

The units include all those listed in the Level 2 Award in addition to:

  • Group Work within a Youth Work Setting
  • Working with Challenging Behaviour in Youth Work Settings
  • Reflective Practice in a Youth Work Setting
  • Work-based Practice in Youth Work
  • Anti-Discriminatory Practice in Youth Work

Duration: 20 sessions plus two one to one sessions

Price: £860

QCF Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice

This course is suitable for those interested in youth work management or higher education.

The Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice consists of 12 units and the learner must achieve 37 credits to successfully complete this qualification.

There are approximately 75 guided learning hours (GLH), 65 hours course work / study at home and approximately 65 hours on placement.

The units include all those listed in the Level 2 Award and Level 3 Certificate in addition to:

  • Detached and Outreach Youth Work - Understanding and Knowledge
  • Referrals and Signposting in Youth Work Settings
  • Support Young People who are not in Employment, Education Training or Excluded from School

Duration: 24 sessions plus two one to one sessions
