Harry Partington, Chair

Harry is an experienced Chair who has spent 35 years helping organisations to understand customer needs, get clear about long-term strategy and deliver change through people. He has worked in social housing, credit unions, building societies, banks, insurance companies and with a leading renewable energy provider.

Harry believes “we all have the right to a future that enables us to reach our potential”. He joined the Southern Brooks Trustee Board in 2019. Alongside his work at Southern Brooks, he is also Chair of Brighter Places, Bristol's largest independent provider of social housing. He was previously Chair of the organisation that is now Great Western Credit Union.

Paul Timmins Southern Brooks

Paul Timmins, Vice Chair

Paul has spent most of his career in a wide variety of management roles within financial services. As well as specialist risk, audit and compliance skills he brings useful general management and business development experience.

A South Gloucestershire resident, Paul believes in giving everyone the opportunity to achieve their potential. He joined the board of Southern Brooks in 2019.

David Bell

David Bell, Trustee

David was involved in Filton People and when Southern Brooks Community Partnerships took over its roles he joined Southern Brooks predecessor organisation.

David loves serving the community and, over the years, has been involved in many voluntary and community sector groups. He is currently Vice Chairman of Shopmobility South Gloucestershire, based in Yate library. He is also Chairman of the Splatts Abbey Wood Conservation Group, supporting the woodland near Cheswick Village. David is also a volunteer with the Stoke Gifford Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Phil Grew, Trustee

Phil was a Director at Hoare Lea, a consulting engineering firm based in Bristol. His career spanned over 30 years working on major construction projects and masterplan developments across the UK. He has a keen focus on sustainability, people and planet and is passionate about inclusivity for all.

In a voluntary capacity, Phil has been a longstanding volunteer at of the Julian Trust, a night shelter in central Bristol, for over 18 years. Phil also tutors for Action Tutoring, a charity committed to improving the academic outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, motivating pupils to overcome learning barriers and achieve their potential in life.

Phil became a Trustee of Southern Brooks in 2022.

SJL

Scott Jacobs-Lange, Trustee

Scott is a qualified community development practitioner with over twenty years of experience, working for several of the region’s housing associations and voluntary sector organisations. He has a particular interest in tackling marginalisation, forging effective community partnerships and nurturing social connections.

Scott has worked in many of South Gloucestershire’s newer neighbourhoods, connecting residents and partners to create the conditions for success, and became a Trustee of Southern Brooks in October 2024.
