Diwali Festival coming to Patchway this November

Patchway Festival Committee, Southern Brooks Community Partnerships and the Avon Indian Association are excited to announce that they have worked together to secure funding to hold a Diwali Festival in Patchway this year.

The celebration will take place on Tuesday, November 6th, starting with a lantern parade from Coniston Community Centre and ending in Coniston Primary School with a community Indian meal. Access to the event is completely free.

Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights which celebrates the victory of the forces of light over darkness. We will be bringing the community together to celebrate in Patchway – with lights, decorations, colour and food. In the lead up to the event we will be running workshops in our local primary schools to learn about Diwali and make lanterns to use in the lantern parade with the amazing artists responsible for the Bedminster Lantern Parade. We also have two free community group lantern making workshops on offer.

If you are a member of a community group which would be interested in being involved, or an individual who would like to volunteer to help us out on the day then get in touch with caroline at Southern Brooks on carolinebrowne@southernbrooks.org.uk or call 01454 868570.

Keep your eyes peeled on Facebook, Southern Brook’s website and in local community spaces for more information about the day. We hope to see you all there to celebrate with us.
