A big congratulations to the Patchway Festival Committee who won a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service!
The award was presented by the Lord Lieutenant last week at a presentation attended by current and previous members of the committee. The festival has now been running in Patchway for 25 years, because of the time and energy put in by a team of amazing volunteers. Les Brooks, who is the Chair for the committee and his wife Rose, were invited to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace on behalf of the committee:
“It was an absolutely brilliant day, we had a fabulous time at the garden party and saw the queen from a distance! Organising the festival can be a lot of work but for us it’s all about community – that’s who we do it for.”
Julie Close from Southern Brooks Community Partnerships shared “This is fantastic recognition for the great work done by the Patchway Festival Committee, and shows what an impact volunteers can make in their local community. Well done to everyone who has been involved – your efforts continue to make Patchway a great place to live.”
