Activites for Older People
Stay healthy, independent and connected
As you get older, it is important to be healthy, social and active. We at Southern Brooks support a number of groups and initiatives aimed at older people.
Whether it's woodwork, crafts, sewing, gardening, if you would like to volunteer or are supporting someone with a diagnosis of dementia, there is a group for you!
We also run our Green Spaces project, which is open to people of all ages.
Your local Men In Sheds groups are welcoming places, where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue.
They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men come together to work.
Activities usually involve making or mending in wood, usually using reclaimed wood or restoring old items, but may include metalworking, bike repair, gardening, etc.
Whichever activities are pursued, the essence of a Shed is not a building, but the network of relationships between the members.
